Build something of your own.
Build your own business without starting alone: I am looking for people with an entrepreneurial mindset to join me in advising business owners and private clients on provision and protection. Locations in Berlin, Hamburg and Magdeburg, with Neuruppin, Hanover, Augsburg and Munich to follow. This page shows you honestly what getting started looks like, what it demands, and who it is not for.
Why career changers succeed here
My own path did not follow the insurance-industry textbook: finance and controlling at Mercedes-Benz, sales at a Berlin tech startup, plus an M.Sc. in Management at ESMT Berlin with stints in Amsterdam and New York. Today I run my own advisory business focused on company pension schemes and I am building a Germany-wide team under the Iankovski brand.
That experience shapes who I look for: you can learn the technical side; there is structured training for that. What cannot be taught are attitude, curiosity and the drive to build something of your own.
What makes it entrepreneurial
Your calendar is yours. No clocking in, no attendance requirement. You decide when to schedule appointments, how to build your week and how fast you want to grow.
Your results determine your income. There is no salary scale, no ceiling and no floor. That is the entrepreneurial side of this profession, and it demands hard work and stamina before it pays off.
You take on growing responsibility. First your own client base, then your own team, and in time responsibility for a location. Berlin, Hamburg and Magdeburg show the way. The next cities need people who want to build them.
What to expect
Advice with substance
Conversations with business owners and private clients about provision and protection, in person or online. Long-term relationships instead of quick deals.
A guided start
You sit in on real appointments and learn from real cases. Nobody gets sent out to clients alone after a single week of training.
Clear development
Defined stages instead of vague promises: from a guided start through your own client base to team and location responsibility. You decide how far to go.
Your path in five phases
You will not be thrown in at the deep end: every phase has a clear goal, and you know where you stand at every point.
The qualification exam at the IHK, the German chamber of commerce, is the legal basis of the work. Preparing for it is part of the training, no prior knowledge needed.
First meeting
No strings attached, and it goes both ways: you size up the role and me, and I check whether it fits. Online or in person.
Shadowing
You join real client appointments and learn the day-to-day hands-on from the start, alongside experienced colleagues.
Qualification
The IHK qualification exam, with structured preparation, plus internal training alongside the practical work.
Supported launch
Your own appointments with backup, clear development stages, and regular reviews of your progress together.
Scaling up
Your own client base, then your own team, and in time responsibility for a location. As far as you want to go.
Who I am looking for
Entrepreneurial thinking
You want to shape things, not work through a to-do list. You organise yourself, set your own goals and do not need anyone to call you in the morning.
Genuine interest in people
Advising means listening, explaining and building trust. If you would rather work with spreadsheets than with people, you will not be happy here.
Integrity
Provision is a matter of trust. Doing things properly and being reliable are non-negotiable.
Willingness to learn
No prior knowledge needed, industry experience welcome. Speaking several languages is a plus, not a must.
What I do not promise: quick money without work. Pay is performance-based, and building your client base takes time, discipline and a tolerance for setbacks. If you are looking for a side gig or guaranteed commissions, this is not for you. I discuss the terms and compensation openly in the first meeting, not on a website.
Sound like you? Send me two or three sentences about your background. Book a first meeting
The role is that of a self-employed commercial agent, not an employment relationship. The terms and compensation are explained fully and openly in a personal conversation.
